Hello, I'm Dr. Kay Towns, and I look forward to hearing your story. I'm a skilled and empathetic counselor with a passion and dedication to helping people of all backgrounds move forward in their lives. I live and work in Houston, Texas offering counseling services to adults, couples, and families throughout all of Texas. I have training and experience treating many mental health issues, including co-existing conditions. Some of my areas of counseling expertise include anxiety, depression, grief/loss, bipolar, spiritual issues, life transitions, stress management, PTSD, and relationship problems. My professional counseling license is held in the State of Texas (LPC license 75474) and also in the State of Arizona (LPC-19730).
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and also serve as an ordained minister in The United Methodist Church (order of deacon). I find this background deeply useful in working with people of all walks of life and all faith traditions, including those who do not embrace a faith background but who are searching for meaning or spirituality. My therapeutic approach is to provide non-judgmental evidenced-based support and feedback to help effectively address personal life challenges.

Dr. Towns was the first chaplain intern at The Menninger Clinic (Houston, Texas) since the 1980s and also the first LPC to be accepted and complete a practicum and internship at The Menninger Clinic.
In addition to serving others through counseling, Dr. Towns provides workshops and presentations in the community on the topic of mental health, working to support mental health awareness and stand up against stigma associated with mental illness. Dr. Towns also is an adjunct college professor who teaches a doctoral-level counseling class.
